Glabweng

If winter is your favourite season and snow is your thing, then there is no better planet to visit then Glabweng, currently in the throes of an ice-age and entirely covered in snow and ice.

Breathtaking vistas of glistening snow fields, lofty mountain ranges and extensive glaciers form the backdrop to the town of Froston, the largest settlement in the equatorial band where it is still warm enough to survive. Despite the cold you will find a warm reception from the locals who hold street markets throughout the year and like to swim in the icy waters of the nearby lake.

Winter sports are obviously a major attraction of the area, and you can join in both modern and traditional pursuits. You can view the panoramic terrain in the peaceful atmosphere of a cyber-husky sled trek, or back at the town join in the mania of sled racing. A popular day out is a visit to the awe-inspiring great ice caverns where many extinct native animals can be seen frozen into the translucent walls.

The only hotel in the town is the Igloo Inn, but don’t worry, it’s not made of ice! The facilities include a thermal spa and ice pools for the healthy, and for the rest of us the restaurant serves an amazingly varied menu including drinks served with 3 million-year-old ice cut from local glaciers. Other activities available include:

§ Turbo ice-skating
§ Hovo-toboganing
§ Avalanche racing
§ Ice sculpting
§ Ultra snow-ball fights

All rooms are fully thermo-insulated and come equipped with 3000-channel holovision sets as standard.

Flight per person from Earth to Glabweng : 11,000 €$
Price per person per night at the Igloo Inn : 800 €$
